Simon Fitzmaurice's illustration of a building on Great Guildford Street in Bankside, sporting a beautiful sign for Barclay and Fry Ltd. Formed in 1867 as Barclay & Fry, the company started to make elaborately decorated biscuit tins for the British food market, later establishing patents for offset lithography. The business also created pencil cases for school children, thus lending to the title : "Barclay & Fry Ltd, Printers, Stationers and Tin Box Makers".
